The striking parrot features a boldly colored body with green and yellow plumage, a vivid blue crest, and painted detailing in orange, black, and red. It is perched on a wonderfully hand-decorated tree stump base with a mottled, impressionistic pattern.
This piece is attributed to Fourmaintraux Frères, a leading family of faience artists from Desvres, France, renowned for their highly collectible pottery works of the 19th and early 20th century. The underside carries a painted “U” mark typical of Desvres Fourmaintraux production of that period.
