This is a beautiful set of 2 vintage decorative plates made from fine English bone china, each featuring a classic maritime scene painted by the renowned 19thcentury British marine artist John Ward (1798–1849). These collector plates capture the grandeur and detail of the great sailing ships of the 18th and 19th centuries.

About the Artist:


John Ward (1798–1849) was a celebrated marine painter born in Derbyshire, England. As an apprentice ship painter, he developed a deep appreciation for nautical subjects, leading to a prolific career in oils and watercolours. He painted scenes largely around the River Humber and exhibited widely in London. His works are praised for their accurate rendering of rigging and naval detail.
